Seven members of the Guilderland High School class of 2019 have been named Guilderland Lettermen Foundation award winners. The Guilderland Lettermen Foundation, now in its 22nd year, annually recognizes multi-sport student athletes – evaluating applications based on academic, athletic and community service achievements.

“Each year, we get so many impressive applications; 2019 is no different,” said Lettermen Foundation President Mark Williams, a 1982 Guilderland graduate. “Our Foundation board takes great pride in recognizing these exceptional representatives of our school and community. We thank all our sponsors and Lettermen Classic participants for helping us make this happen.”

Award winners for 2018 include Isabella Bruno (soccer, indoor and outdoor track and field), Jamie Golderman (soccer, basketball, lacrosse), Caitlyn Miller (soccer, lacrosse), Nicholas Popolizio (football, lacrosse), and Shea Thomson (field hockey, cross-country skiing, gymnastics, lacrosse).

The 2019 Hal McCarthy Award winner, which goes to the person whose application receives the most points during evaluation by the Lettermen Board of Directors, is Noah Tindale (cross country, track and field). The award is named in memory of the long-time Guilderland teacher, coach and superintendent.

The 2019 Mark Burlingame Dutchmen Spirit award winner is Sidra Hasan (cross country, lacrosse). The prestigious Burlingame award, co-presented by C.M. Fox Real Estate, is named for former Lettermen board member and Guilderland High School three-sport star athlete Mark Burlingame. The award recognizes a student-athlete who’s demonstrated the highest qualities of Dutchmen spirit and sportsmanship.

Each awardee receives a certificate of recognition and a financial award to assist them with their college education. In 22 years, the Lettermen Foundation has awarded nearly $100,000 to deserving student athletes.

Award winners were recognized at Guilderland’s annual athletic awards night and will be introduced again at the Lettermen Foundation’s annual golf outing, the Guilderland Classic, August 3, 2019 at Orchard Creek Golf Club in Altamont.

About Us

The Guilderland Lettermen Foundation (GLF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to student athletes who graduate from Guilderland Central High School in Guilderland, New York.  GLF provides graduating seniors with monetary awards to be used towards their college education.

WHAT WE DO

Each year, the GLF depends on individual and corporate sponsorship to ensure its success. The annual Guilderland Letterman Classic provides a great opportunity to give back to our community while enjoying a great day of golf with good friends.  In its 23 years in existence, your tournament has distributed more than $110,000 in monetary awards to college-bound Guilderland Central High School students, and done so even during challenging economic times.  In addition, substantive donations have been made to various community programs.

We extend tremendous gratitude to our sponsors, players, and volunteers. Together, we are making a difference for Guilderland Athletics and our community.
