Congratulations to Andrew Sischo!!
This year we are extremely privileged to present the Mark Burlingame Dutchmen Pride Award. This annual $1,500 award, collectively selected by the Guilderland coaches, goes to a Senior athlete who best exemplifies the ideals of Dutchmen Spirit. Not based on athletic accomplishments, this award is given to someone who has demonstrated the highest qualities of true Dutch spirit and sportsmanship. The prestigious SPIRIT Award is given to a graduating student-athlete who inspires others, giving unselfishly of their time and talents for the betterment of the team, and epitomizes the values of Support, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Inspiration, and Trust.
Burls was one of the most accomplished and talented athletes in the history of Guilderland Athletics – a natural that excelled in soccer, track, basketball, and baseball. However, each person he touched through the different chapters of his life benefited by his total being. He touched so many with his genuine character, positive spirit, and loving nature. Burls had a way of making everyone want to be better and to know they could be better. It is our goal to identify the student-athlete who best honors these values and Burls’ unparalleled impact on those around him to improve school spirit and athlete morale.

Andrew Sischo is an engaging, popular, and talented young man. Son of Deanna and Kevin Sischo, brother of Emily Sischo. This talented 6’9” Center was a News Channel 13 All Star and a 1st team Schenectady Gazette all area team selection. Andrew led this year’s basketball team in scoring (21 points) and rebounding (13 rebounds per game) and had a strong career at Guilderland, while leading two very accomplished teams in his junior and senior years. He also earned a 2015-2016 1st Team selection from the Suburban Council due to his dominant play. We all know that Andrew could have lettered in other sports, such as baseball, but he concentrated on refining his immense basketball talents instead.
